A resort town trains differently
Hunstanton had 4,370 residents at the 2021 census and a population that swells every summer, which is why the coast runs retreats, boot camps and class based studios rather than big membership floors. It is the only east coast resort facing west across The Wash, so the sun sets over the sea, and the cliffs are striped red limestone over white chalk.
The free option is genuinely good here. Hunstanton Promenade parkrun runs on the North Promenade clifftops, tarmac in winter and grass in summer, free and timed. From King's Lynn it is about 25 minutes on the A149, or buses 34, 35 and 36 in roughly 55 minutes.
When to drive to King’s Lynn instead
Sixteen miles, about 25 minutes. Make the trip if you want any of the three things the coast does not list: a gym open 24 hours, a six lane pool, or a serious free weights room. Five places in Lynn never shut, and the cheapest published membership there is £18.99 a month off peak.
Stay local if what you want is a class, a coach or a pool you can get to in five minutes. On a 50 minute round trip, three times a week, the membership is rarely the expensive part.
