What to send
- Trading name, spelled exactly as it is on the door and on your Google listing.
- Full address and postcode.
- Phone number.
- Website.
- Opening hours, and if you are unstaffed overnight, the staffed hours as well. People get caught out by that more than anything else on this site.
- One line on what the place is actually for. Not a strapline. Something like: small group barbell coaching, or a mat room running four nights a week.
- Your price, if you publish one. If you do not publish prices, say so and we will write that, because saying nothing looks worse.
What happens next
The listing goes on the register at the next update. Your position comes from the formula on the how we rank page, which uses your Google star rating and your review count and nothing else.
We will not write that you are the best gym in King's Lynn. We do not sell that line, and it cannot be true of everyone we list. What we will write is what your place actually is, in a sentence a stranger can act on.
How to move up the table
One lever, and it is the same one for everybody: more Google reviews, and a rating that holds up.
The arithmetic is worth knowing if you are a small independent. A 5.0 from nine reviews scores 4.56 on our formula. The same 5.0 from 50 reviews scores 4.80. You do not need better reviews, you need more of the ones you are already earning. Ask the members who have been with you two years, not the one who joined on Monday.
Corrections, closures and what we will not do
Wrong postcode, old phone number, hours that changed in the summer, a gym that has closed, a rating that has moved: send it and it gets changed. No charge, no conditions, and you do not need to be listed here to report something about someone else's entry.
What we will not do, whatever the offer:
- Sell a top spot, a featured row or a highlighted listing.
- Take a commission or a referral fee on a membership.
- Remove or soften a Google rating because you asked.
- Delete a competitor's listing as a favour.
- Write copy for your own website in exchange for a link.
If that ever changes, it will be said on the page in the same size type as everything else. More on how the register is run.
Common questions
Is it really free to be listed?
Yes. Free to be added, free to be corrected, and there is no paid tier to upgrade to.
Can I pay to be at the top?
No. The only inputs to the ranking are your Google star rating and your review count, and neither is for sale here.
How do I get my listing corrected?
Send the correct details through this page. Corrections go in at the next update and cost nothing.
Can I be removed from the register?
Yes. Ask and the listing comes off. We would rather keep it accurate than keep it against your wishes.
What if my gym has closed?
Tell us and we will take it down. A closed gym sitting on a directory sends real people to a locked door.
